Typhoid fever is a concern for people travelling abroad. It is spread through poor hygiene in contaminated water or food. It is a serious viral disease whose symptoms include, diarrhea, fever, headaches. Typhoid can kill. Vaccination should be given one month before the day of travel. Additionally, you should take care when eating food, eg eat fruits you have washed and peeled for yourself, water -take boiled or treated clean tapped or bottle sealed water. Central and South America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East are among the regions where typhoid is prevalent.

Another disease that is considered serious is the Yellow fever. This disease is only existent in Tropical South America and Sub-Saharan Africa. It is caused by a bite from an infected mosquito. Symptoms of yellow fever include a headache, jaundice, bleeding and vomiting. This disease is fatal. In some countries, East Africa in particular, requires a certificate of inoculation before entry. The travel vaccine is administered 10 days before your day of travel and it lasts up to 10 years.
